HCP (Hard Chrome Plating – Heavy Deposits)
Industrial chromium plating, also known as hard chrome or engineered chrome, is used to reduce friction, add wear resistance, or increase corrosion resistance.

It is very hard, measuring between 900 - 950 Vickers. Hard chrome thicknesses are not uncommon to reach up to (0.040” inch) – (1.00mm) on overall diameters/ surfaces. Surface defects and roughness are amplified, because hard chrome does not have a leveling effect. Therefore extensive cleaning and preparations are carried out prior to plating and if/ where required pre machining operations to improve the surface finish.

The HCP type used at Hycrome is a Hexavalent chromium bath with the main ingredient being chromic anhydride, aka chromium trioxide. The solution is a proprietary mix called HEEF 25 (High Efficiency Etch Free).
