New Performance Test facility for Gas Turbine users

Bookings are now being taken for Industrial Gas Turbine Performance Tests at Score’s GLEN test facility.

Score Group plc, already established in the complete overhaul of industrial gas turbines through subsidiary Kite International and fuel systems overhaul for GE Aeroderivative and Alstom turbines, is announcing at PowerGen the opening of the World’s largest dual fuel gas turbine test facility, The GLEN.

The Ground Level ENgine (GLEN) test facility has at it's core technology developed and used for the original OEM performance testing of, for example, the Eurofighter Typhoon EJ200 and a range of aeroderivative gas turbines including the Avon®.

This purpose built facility, located in Aberdeenshire Scotland, is part of a 200,000m² ecologically balanced site designed with fresh water pond and native tree species to maximise biodiversity and minimise environmental impact.

High speed data acquisition, interfaced directly to an acquisition and analysis system which can be monitored on-site and off-site by Customers over the Internet, ensure that this facility, which has been at the centre of Gas Turbine development for 60 years, harnesses information technology to monitor, record and certify gas turbine performance.

1500m² warehousing, 4000m² storage , 900m² office space and 400m² of dual fuel test cells with floor, side and overhead engine mountings are in place, to provide Score Customers with a unique facility dedicated to proving the highest standards of gas turbine engineering.

The GLEN is the latest facility available to turbine operators, and test slot bookings are now being taken. All industrial turbines up to 30MW can be processed in both liquid and gas, including all variants of Avon®, RB211, Olympus and Allison.

In addition to testing gas turbines, Score’s GLEN test facility can draw upon the expertise and resources of sister companies Kite International, Hycrome and Score:

Kite International are established in the overhaul, service and supply of 1533, 1534 and 1535 Industrial Gas Turbines. Kite hold over € 26 Million Avon® spares in stock. All work done is covered by OEM-equivalent warranties, with a range of extended warranties also available. Customer support is provided by Kite service technicians based in Qatar, Venezuela and the UK.

Hycrome provide Aerospace and Power Generation OEM’s with component manufacture, overhaul and surface treatment. Approvals include BAE SYSTEMS/Eurofighter project.

Score’s Gas Turbine Fuel Systems division, is uniquely approved by customers such as Alstom, Parker Hannfin, Titeflex and Authorised by GE for the overhaul of aeroderivative and light industrial fuel systems. 24 Hour customer support combined with industry leading facilities and the availability of OEM spares from stock, ensure that Score provides customers with service which minimises turn time, maximising turbine availability and performance.
