Hycrome's Facilities and Capacities
Hycrome operate from a 3-acre site and 63,000 sq ft purpose built factory with over 100 employees. Production is supported by a 3,500 Sq Ft administration block, and our state of the art facility is among the largest in the UK and serves industries as diverse as Aerospace, Mining, Pharmaceutical, Offshore Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Textile and Valve Manufacturing.
Processing
All processing operations take place over a fully bonded 10,000 Sq Ft triple layer acid resistant epoxy resin flooring.
Chromium Plating
29 tank line, with 9 chromium plating vats, having capacities ranging from 1,500 Litres to 2,800 Litres. This quantity of plating vats enables Hycrome to process a large number of differing components at the same time, ranging from very small to over 6Ft in length and 3Ft in diameter. Where large quantities of parts are to be processed, these vats allow Hycrome to plate them together, therefore reducing the cost to our customers. The plating line has a continuous overhead monorail lifting facility, with three independent 3 ton cranes, allowing speedy and safe handling of larger components.
Nickel Plating
Nickel plating lines offer two sulphamate nickel vats at 2,100 litre and 3,400 litre capacity. Electroless nickel at 4,800 litres, Hyc 20 (Silicone Carbide) at 3,000 litres as well as Bright nickel and Nickel striking.
Anodising
One 6 meter fully automated line incorporating Chromic acid and Alocrom 1200 for increased efficiency and cost reduction, and one smaller manual line incorporating Chromic Acid, Sulphuric Acid and Alocrom for rapid customer response.
Painting
Manual plant consisting of 3 water blanket extracted spray booths with 4 curing furnaces for increased flexibility and a fully automated plant with a 3 meter by 3 meter spray booth and associated carousel furnace system for increased productivity.
Surface Preparation
In addition to the various Acid and Alkaline solutions required to pre-treat different materials, Hycrome can offer a 2,100 Sq Ft abrasive blasting facility, containing 8 blasting cabinets including Alluminia Oxide, Glass bead cleaning, and Glass bead peening.
Controlled Shot Peening
Continuing our desire to supply a complete product to our customer, Hycrome can now offer in-house controlled shot peening. Our automatic multi-station steel shot peening machine allows us to give a rapid and competitive service.
Effluent Treatment
Hycrome operate a 1,500 Sq Ft fully bonded effluent treatment plant, with waste water recirculation, allowing us to meet all current and future environment regulations, and give our customers the knowledge that we are a supplier who can meet their environmental policies.
Support
As well as the support of the inspection and technical departments, processing is controlled through a fully equipped Laboratory with full time Chemists. We also have a further three heat treatment furnaces, two at 3 Ft cubed and one at 5 Ft by 4 Ft by 3½ Ft ranging to 600ºC.
Non Destructive Testing
Facilities include Hardness Testing, Etch inspection for grinding abuse, with lines operating to British Aerospace specifications, Pentrant Flaw Detection, Magnetic Flaw Detection, and Conductivity Testing.
Detail Manufacture
Providing forming by C.N.C. pressbrake up to 1200 mm at 20 Tonne, Tensile testing, associated heat treatment, and assembly.
Machine Shop
Hycrome has various lathes, boring and milling machines, these are used for small batch work, repair items, and to support our tooling requirements. The majority of the machine shop is taken over by grinding machines.
External Grinding
Hycrome has 9 grinding machines with capacities ranging from ¹/16" diameter to 30" by 140" length.
Internal Grinding
Hycrome has two Churchill grinding machines, with 24" to 28" swing, and 20" to 24" travel, and one Eurfurt grinding machine with 24" swing and 16" travel.
Others
Hycrome also has three ball grinders ranging from 2" to 60" diameter, planetary grinders, centreless grinders, and honing machines.
Project Management
Following recent collaborations, Hycrome are now in a position to offer a rapid turnaround sub contract service on other coatings such as Phosphate, Cadmium, Copper, and Tin. Hycrome also arranges for machining work to be carried out should it be required, and all companies used hold full Aerospace accreditations. These services enable Hycrome to offer a complete processing service for all our customer's requirements.
Other Services
Hycrome are able to offer vibro and ink identification services. We also have a spring manufacturing department, and a valve department offering overhaul, testing, and new component sourcing for a wide range of valves.
